UEFA Euro 2024 final: Spain beat England 2-1
Spain won UEFA Euro 2024 on 14 July 2024, beating England 2-1 at the Olympiastadion in Berlin. Nico Williams opened the scoring in the 47th minute, Cole Palmer equalised for England in the 73rd, and Mikel Oyarzabal struck the winner in the 86th.
A perfect campaign
Spain won all seven of their matches in Germany — the first team to do so at a European Championship. It was their fourth EURO title (after 1964, 2008 and 2012).
The Yamal factor
At 16, Lamine Yamal became the youngest scorer in European Championship history and provided the assist for Williams in the final. Alongside Nico Williams, he gave Spain a devastating young wing partnership.
England’s wait goes on
The defeat extended England’s wait for a first major men’s trophy since 1966, despite reaching a second consecutive final under Gareth Southgate.
